Under a microscope, your windshield has a rough and pitted surface, much like a sheet of sandpaper.

A series of ballistic experiments were conducted at an independent University Lab indoor gun range for the purpose of evaluating the windshield protector system (BulletProof Windshield Protectant).  Small spherical shaped projectiles (.177 BB’s) were shot from a Crossman 760 Pumpmaster BB rifle (from 5 feet away), at a windshield that had half of the windshield coated with the BulletProof product and the other half untreated. The velocity of the BB’s was measured with a spectrometer, using two photodiodes with detectors and a HP electronic counter, and high-speed digital images of the impacts were recorded. 20 shots were fired at both test surfaces. The tests were conducted as follows:

Velocity Range 221 to 172 FT/SEC Number of Shots to Treated and Untreated: 20

Average Velocity 194 FT/SEC

Monitored Application on Vehicles


From 2005 to 2006, an early formula of BulletProof Windshield Protectant was professionally applied to 1452 private passenger vehicles and RV’s on the East Coast and West Coast. The product was applied only once and monitored for effectiveness to reduce windshield damage overall and reduce non-repairable damage over a three year period from the date of original application. The product performed as follows:


Only 2% sustained glass damage in first four months from date of application

Over the course of three years, with just a single application, only 11% of the vehicles tested sustained any glass damage. The overall repairable to non-repairable ratio was a remarkable 63% improvement in the national repairable to non-repairable ratio of untreated glass. The majority of glass damage, especially damage resulting in replacement of glass, occurred nine months or more after product was applied to windshield.

Summary: The product protected the glass in an exceptional manner through the first four months after application. Protecting your windshield glass with BulletProof Windshield Protectant and following the application guidelines of refreshing the protective coating every four months will greatly reduce “non-repairable” damage to your windshield glass.
